More than 90 percent of the pollution flowing into New Hampshire’s waters comes from how we live on the land.

Most of it comes from stormwater runoff. It washes off our roads, homes, and yards and into streams and rivers. Pollution also flows into groundwater from failing septics. It’s made better or worse by the products we buy and countless other everyday decisions. Keeping our shared waters clean is everyone’s job—we can’t do it without you! You’ll be surprised by how easy it is; the best way to start is one small action at a time.
