A Community Conversation about PFAS: Wastewater, Biosolids and How To Reduce Risks in NH

The Great Bay Changemaker Program is hosting a panel discussion on PFAS in NH, building on a similar event hosted in June 2025. Panelists will include scientists, farmers and community leaders working on PFAS issues in New England. All are welcome.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Allison Jumper, a seacoast area resident and alum of the Great Bay Changemaker Program. PFAS contamination led to the closing of her family farm in Maine.

Laura Orlando is a civil engineer and Senior Scientist at Just Zero and Adjunct Assistant Professor in Environmental Health at Boston University School of Public Health. Laura’s work is referenced in this recent NH Public Radio story – Our sewage often becomes fertilizer. Problem is, it’s tainted with PFAS

Bill Plueker is a commercial farmer, Maine state legislator and public policy organizer who works with Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners. Bill has been working to address PFAS contamination of farmland through education and advocacy.

Ren Beaudoin is the Residuals Management Section Supervisor for the NH Department of Environmental Services and also serves as an adjunct professor at Rivier University. Ren’s team regulates the use of septage and sludge that are produced by waste water treatment facilities in NH.

Rosemarie Rung is a four-term NH state representative from Merrimack. Trained as a biochemist at UNH, she worked as an analytical chemist and corporate public affairs leader before retiring. Rosemarie has focused her legislative work on water quality, including efforts to address PFAS contamination and toxic cyanobacteria blooms.
